Message from H.E. Jean-Pierre Thebault, Ambassador of France in Australia

The Embassy of France in Australia is proud to support the Bastille Day French Festival in Melbourne that brings together the French and francophone associations in Victoria. As the newly appointed ambassador of France to Australia, I look forward to discovering the Festival’s celebration of French culture, lifestyle, technology and innovation.

The Bastille Day French Festival highlights the ever-strengthening links between France and Victoria in business, research, the arts and community engagement and I commend the Melburnians for embracing the multiculturalism that is the strength of Victoria.

Joyeuse Bastille et Vive la France!

Message from The Hon. Ros Spence MP, Minister of Multicultural Affairs for the Victorian State Government

On behalf of the Andrews Labor Government, I am delighted to support the Bastille Day French Festival, an event that celebrates the rich heritage of France and the francophone world.

This festival is a great example of Victoria’s celebration of cultural diversity and how multiculturalism is a core part of our identity.

We thank the French community who have contributed greatly to our state through wonderful cuisine, artistic experiences and enterprising business partnerships.

The relationship between France and Victoria continues to go from strength to strength, and my thanks go to the Consule-Générale Honoraire de France à Melbourne for the work it does to promote French culture to all Victorians.

Happy Bastille Day!

Message from the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Councillor Sally Capp

The City of Melbourne is proud to support the 2021 Bastille Day French Festival.

We are delighted to acknowledge the history, culture and influence of France here in Melbourne.

This festival is one of our great cultural celebrations and another reminder that Melbourne is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.

We are proud of this diversity, which is why we support festivals and events that celebrate our rich cultural fabric.

Over two days, learn more about France and indulge in so many wonderful French products. This is the time to proudly wear your beret, to drink champagne and eat macaroons or escargot.

But there is so much more to France and the ways in which our community is enhanced by French language, fashion, art, literature, music and dancing.

Congratulations to Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie Honourary Consul General of France in Melbourne and the French community for their hard work and commitment to Melbourne.

To all of our French Australians, thank you for so generously sharing the richness of your culture with us.

Joyeuse Bastille et Vive la France!
