LES LUMIÈRES

Our ever-popular series of talks, conferences and cultural events – Les Lumières – will take place in person and on-line. This year, Les Lumières Bleu, Blanc, Rouge and Vert will include topics ranging from history, sustainability and culture to sport – including of course the Paris Olympics!

Les Lumières “Vert” : Immersive Green Tech Pitch Contest

Join us on Tuesday, the 16th, for the final Lumières Talk of the 2024 edition. In collaboration with the French Tech community and FACCI, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a startup pitch contest focused on GreenTech. Both French and Australian startups will showcase their projects. Step into an immersive room where innovation comes to life before your eyes. The Bastille Day French Festival Walking Tours are a fun event for all ages to celebrate and re-visit the City of Melbourne with a French eye. Join us to discover all the French icons you may have missed right in the heart of the city.

Walking Tours : French Icons of Melbourne

Come and immerse yourself in lesser known aspects of Melbourne seen through a French eye.

Be prepared to walk a little and enjoy a few French touches along the way… L’Occitane… Christine… La Belle Miette… All senses awaken !!!! The Sunday tours will end with a glass of sparkling at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins in the Atrium Bar.

Tours conducted in English.

This is an ALL AGES event and does include extensive walking

Get up close and personal with a selection of the Hellenic Museum’s original Summer Olympic torches.

Workshop : Let the Games Begin! Olympcs at the Hellenic Museum

Join us for this action-packed Children’s workshop to experience the glory of the ancient Olympic games. Compete in a re-imagined ancient Pentathlon contest – featuring a stadion race, wrestling (our epic tug-of-war), long jump, javelin and discus throw. This event is perfect for ages 7-11 (must be accompanied by an 18+). Proudly sponsored by The University of Melbourne and supported by the French Embassy and Hellenic Museum.
