COVID-19 STATEMENT – April 2021

A year ago, it was with a saddened heart that the Festival Committee decided to cancel the 2020 Bastille Day French Festival. Everyone, including our sponsors, partners, stallholders and the whole French community have been extremely supportive, and we would like to give you all, a huge MERCI!

We are now very busy planning both an online & face-to-face Festival for 16 and 17 July at Fed Square. We are acutely aware of the physical restrictions that are still in place and that are guiding us in implementing a safe festival for everyone. We are programming digital content, such as Caudalie (our produced film),other short films, our trivia event, and I hope some Masterclasses and Les Lumières talks for you to all enjoy. Our launch will be streamed in parts via our socials too!

We are doing our best to employ safe solutions to ensure that as many people as possible can safely come and enjoy our French joie de vivre in the heart of the city, at Federation Square. We will be using our website and social media like never before, seeking to reach you, our loyal audience.

Our committee members, our team of volunteers, and myself are looking forward to embarking on this event, despite the current COVID-19 restrictions, and will be aiming to give you the best Bastille Day French Festival ever!

We have set up some guidelines for you to follow below.
Merci et à bientôt !

COVIDSafe Guidelines

Sanitisation

Hand sanitiser will be available for use throughout the Festival; each stallholder will also provide their own sanitiser. Please ensure you sanitise your hands regularly throughout the day, particularly after eating or touching your face.

Social-Distancing

The Victorian applicable social-distancing rules will be enforced at the time of the event by COVIDSafe wardens.

We’ve amended our stall layout to ensure distancing can be observed.

Attendance

If you have recently been sick, are showing symptoms of coronavirus or have been exposed to someone with symptoms, we ask you not to attend the Festival and seek prompt medical attention.

Cleaning

We have ensured that extra cleaning will be provided throughout the 2-day Festival.

We actively encourage all stall-holders to regularly sanitise their own goods where practical.
